Job Posting: Student Website Assistant (Undergraduate Student)

Job Description

The overarching goal of the Collective is to enhance the students’ community-engaged learning environment, and to maximize engagement with the UBC community and general public with respect to STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics – outreach and general science literacy.

This student will work with the UBC STEM Outreach Collective to update the existing collective website (https://stemoutreach.ubc.ca/). This student may make recommendations to optimize the current website with easy-to-upkeep features. Using the resource inventory created by the Survey Assistant, the Student Web Assistant will put this information (events, resources, programs, etc) online, and make it accessible to the public. This student will also add a segment to the website for collective volunteer recruitment and postings – both for individual program volunteers (eg. Beaty Biodiversity Museum, UBC Physics Olympics, Geering Up), as well as general collective volunteers (events such as Science Rendezvous, Apple Fest, etc). Updates existing content, with recommendations from collective members. 

Additional duties include attending once monthly meetings with the UBC STEM Outreach Collective and presenting the status of this project.

Max 42 hours, $25.00/hour, March-May (June if necessary) 2021, Remote posting, Grant-funded

Qualifications

  • Experience with WordPress web design, preference for UBC web environment experience
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent proofreading, editing skills
  • Current UBC student
